Paramedics are first responders and provide triage and initial medical care for patients before more advanced care needs. Responsibilities include:
Act as first responders for onboard emergencies, perform triage, provide on-scene treatment, and transfer patients to the medical center for continued care. Perform similar activities on private islands ashore.
Assess patients and provide treatment and advice for specific conditions.
Perform administrative tasks under the supervision of the Senior Nurse, including patient billing
Perform equipment checks
Pharmacy dispensing and supplies inventory management.
Participate in drills, inspections, and training
Perform X-rays
Perform laboratory tests
Provide outstanding customer service to a diverse patient population
Provide general and emergency medical care in an outpatient/inpatient or critical care setting
Advanced Life Support Paramedic qualification or equivalent, holding a valid professional registration with a government or national regulatory body
Experience and background
At least three years of recent postgraduate clinical experience in paramedicine, emergency medicine, or other acute care settings.
ACLS or ALS Certification
Required for employment.
PALS and ATLS Certification
Strongly recommended.
Fluency in English Language
Required both spoken and written
Computer literacy
Proficiency with Microsoft 365 suite is required including good typing skills.
Electronic Health Records
Required experience with health IT systems.
Customer Service
Outstanding interpersonal, and communication skills to deliver high levels of patient satisfaction
Additional Training
Intensive Care, Emergency Care, Trauma Life Support, and Advanced Pediatric Life Support are preferred but not essential.
